| Spurious cement bags seized at Bishnah | | | JAMMU, Apr 17: Unearthing a spurious cement scam, the Bishnah police today seized a large quantity of sub-standard cement packed in the bags of branded companies. Acting on a tip-off, police raided a rice mill at Harshadabad, Bishnah, and arrested Ranjeet Kumar, a labourer, who was packing spurious cement in the bags of ACC and Ambuja companies. Based on Ranjeet's interrogation, police later raided a deserted mill at Bandurakh near Gangyal and seized from there a huge quantity of spurious cement. When contacted, SP (Headquarters) J S Johar said police had seized 834 bags of spurious cement filled in ACC and Ambuja bags and about 3,000 empty bags of these companies. He said the kingpin Vajinder Pal Singh alias Deepu of Bishnah was absconding and a police team led by SHO Bishnah K D Bhagat had been dispatched to arrest him. The samples of the seized cement had been sent to FSL for their examination, the SP added. The raids were conducted in the presence of tehsildar (settlement) and tehsildar, Bishnah.
