Dalai Lama welcomes Indian support for Tibetan cause
10/14/2006 9:49:04 PM

Dharamshala, Oct 14 Welcoming the support of Indians at the All India Tibet Support Groups conference at Bodh Gaya, the Dalai Lama said he hoped the meet would set in motion a range of activities which would eventually allow Tibetan people to live in freedom and dignity.
The Dalai Lama, in a message, said that since India was Tibet's southern neighbour and since a relationship between the countries had existed for centuries, he held concern from this nation for the Tibet issue were of utmost importance.

The choice of Bodh Gaya as the venue for the conference was also appropriate since it was the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment over 2,500 years ago, he said.

The three -day conference, ending tomorrow, is attended by members of the All Party India Parliamentary Forum for Tibet and approximately 400 Indians including the Governor of Bihar R.S Gavai and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

This is the second conference of Tibet Support Groups from all over India and among those attending will be Tibet's Prime Minister in exile Samdhong Rinpoche.
