EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Apr 18: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Medical Education and Technical Education, Prof. R.S. Chib today said that government has taken up a massive project of constructing new studia and playing fields and renovation of existing ones on priority. As a part of these measures, Rs. 2 crore are being spent on construction of pavilion and renovation of Pulwama Sports Stadium shortly. The Minister was addressing various functions after laying foundation stones at Pampore and Tanchibagh Pulwama for construction of Sports Stadium and fencing of playing fields at these places. Accompanied by Member Rajya Sabha, G. N. Ratanpuri, MLA Pampore, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Mohammad Afzal Bhat, DG Sports, S.A. Laherwal, Vice President, JKPCC, G.N. Monga, Congress Leaders, Farooq Andrabi, Mohammad Anwar Bhat, Haji Abdul Majid, Javed Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Abdullah, Mohammad Akbar Nengroo. Prof. Chib inspected the sites and directed the concerned agencies to formulate projects for early taking up the construction work as early as possible. Prof. Chib further stated that the young and dynamic Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is keen to provide sports lovers opportunities to take part in various sports activities in nook and corner of the state, saying that sports sector has been prioritised by the coalition government.
