Govt launches numerous people welfare schemes in JK: Bhalla

JAMMU, Apr 18: Reiterating that coalition government is determined to provide all basic amenities to the people, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that numerous developmental and welfare schemes have been launched in every nook and corner of the state to upgrade the living standard of the general masses.
Addressing a public gathering at Sunjwan after inspecting the ongoing blacktopping and up-gradation work of 20 kilometer long Bathindi-Sunjwan link road, coming up at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore, the Minister said that government was committed to provide road connectivity, drinking water, power supply, medicare, sanitation and other facilities to the people.
Referring to the un-employment problem, Bhalla said that in view of limited opportunities of government jobs, the government, headed by Omar Abdullah, has launched Sher-e-Kashmir, Employment and Welfare Programme to provide employment, at least, to over one lakh educated youth in the state.
Minister said that the government has already formulated a massive development plan for the face lifting of twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar, adding that the objective for providing road connectivity to all villages and connected with nearest headquarters, he added. He said that in view of the expansion of Jammu city, there was urgent need to formulate a new prospective master-plan. He said assured that drains and lanes of the upcoming localities would be developed as per the requirement of the area.
Minister said that government has approved Rs 80 lakh for construction of lanes and drains at Barjala and Raipur Satwari villages. He said that Government has also sanctioned Rs 27 lakh for improving drinking water facilities in uncovered areas of Bikram Nagar, Azad Nagar, Barjala, Hakla and Raipur-Satwari.
Responding to the demand of locals, Bhalla said that Coalition Government is keen to include Bathindi-Sunjwan areas in the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation for speedy development on modern lines at par with urban area.
Earlier, the Minister visited Raipur-Satwari and inspected the ongoing construction work of Multipurpose community Hall, to be completed at a cost of Rs 67 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete it within prescribed time frame so that the people of the area could avail the benefits in arranging social and religious functions on nominal fee there.
Later, the Minister also attended a function organized by All Auto Spares and Repairers Association at Utsav Banquet Hall, Kunjwani.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that UPA Government headed by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is making all out efforts to boost industrial sector in the state.
Minister said that the state is marching fast towards massive industrialisation and observed that this endeavour would not succeed without the support of the centre.
