| Autonomy-a flawed idea to implement Pakistan's agenda in J&K: Rajnath | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 18: Former national president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajnath Singh today described the ruling National Conference demand of autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir as "flawed" and "hackneyed" idea advocated by the separatists in Kashmir Valley to give practical shape to Pakistan agenda in this State. Chairing the state executive body meet here this afternoon, the BJP leader said, "By pursuing secret diplomacy in collusion with the Kashmiri separatists, the Government is not only playing with fire but also with the sentiments of people." The BJP leader said that the inherent of the Congress party has forced the UPA government to live in perpetual confusion on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and it confuses the people with its whimsical ideas on autonomy. He also concerned over the worsening security situation inside Pakistan as it is with the continuing infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir. "As Pakistan has miserably failed to undertake effective steps to address India's concerned on terrorism being perpetrated from its territory the Government of India should take effective steps to stop continuous infiltrations across the LoC," he asserted. On Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), he said, ''by committing a blunder of withdrawing nearly 37,000 troops from border areas of J&K in 2009-10, the UPA Government has exposed our porous borders to increase threats of cross border infiltration.'' He, however, expressed concern over worsening security situation inside neighbouring Pakistan and said, ''as Pakistan has miserably failed to undertake initiatives to address India's concern on terrorism being perpetrated from its territory, the Indian Government should take effective steps to stop continuous infiltrations from across the border.'' Slamming the UPA government for failing to plug US funding for Pakistan which has misused it to foment terror activities against India, he said the country was facing its "biggest" diplomatic failure. "India is currently facing its biggest diplomatic failure to date as it has not been able to gain anything from the US or Pakistan in its fight against terrorism," Rajnath Singh said. "Pakistan's shrewd diplomacy has outsmarted the UPA government in recent significant diplomatic developments pertaining to India's strategic interests", Singh said, referring to the US' willingness to forge a strategic partnership with Pakistan. He claimed that the UPA government has not been successful in its repeated attempts to get requisite permission to interrogate Pakistani-American David Coleman Headley. "The US has not helped India in its fight against terrorism even though it is one of the worst terror affected country," said Singh and added that a United Nations report has recently, stated that the ISI continues to have close links with Lashkar-e-Toiba and has used the terror group's services to foment anti-India passion in Kashmir and elsewhere.
