| JKAACL organises mushaira | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised a mushaira cum music programme at Banihal on Sunday. The programme was attended by myriad people representing different segments of society. The mushaira was organised in memory of late poet Shaida Banihali. Before holding the mushaira a memorial plague was installed at his grave in his ancestral village Nagam Banihal.As part of the function a paper was also read by Shabir Ahmad Shabir on the life and works of the late poet.The mushaira was presided over by Margoob Banihali while prominent poets like Manshoor Banihali, Shakir Banihali, Dilfigar, Mazroob Banihali, Masroor Banihali. GR Jawad, Sahir Banihali, Ghulam Hassan Hassan, Mohammed Aslam Mir, Nadeem Aahee, Ashraf Gowhar, and Abdul Majeed, Sahil Masarat recited their latest poetic compositions on the occasion. Earlier Cultural Officer, Doda, Fareed Ahmad Fareedi presented the welcome address in which he said that the Cultural Academy would hold a Kashmiri conference at Banihal this summer. "The Cultural Academy is planning to organise a Kashmiri Conference at Banihal in near future," Fareedi informed while presenting the welcome address. During the course of the programme rich tributes were paid to the late poet by noted social workers Abdul Ahad Wani and Abdul Gani Tantray. In order to make the programme more interesting for the gathering, which had assembled at the mushaira venue, a music programme was also organised as part of the mushaira in which singers like Hamzla Saqqib, Abdul Majid and Bahar Ahmad Bahar sang certain select verses from the poetic compositions of the late poet. The mushaira saw local civil administrators, political figures and academics in attendance. The programme proceedings were conducted by Ghulam Hassan Hassan.
