VC XI, DGP XI win in Martyrs' Memorial T20

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, April 18: Vice Chancellor XI and Director General of Police (DGP) XI won their respective matches to move into the next round of Ist Martyrs' Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Parade ground, here today.
Earlier, VC XI defeated Bar President XI by two wickets. Batting first, Bar President XI set a target of 184 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, which, in reply, VC XI chased in 19.4 overs losing eight wickets.
Guru Partap was top scorer with 56 runs while Ravi Dogra and Pranav contributed 55 and 31 runs respectively. From VC XI, Pawan bagged three wickets, followed by Vishal and P Kumar, who took two and one respectively.
Later, VC XI chased the total in 19.4 overs with two wickets in hand. Rajesh Verma made unbeaten 37 runs while Amit and Raj Kumar contributed 42 and 35 runs respectively. Sanjay and Guru Partap took three and two wickets respectively from Bar President XI. In this match, SSP Crime, J P Singh was special guest.
In another match of the day, DGP XI defeated Engineers XI. Batting first, Engineers XI set a target of 147 runs, which, in reply, DGP XI chased in 18 overs.
Shahid (28), Sushil (24) and Vishare (36) were main scorers. From DGP XI, Naresh was most successful bowler with three wickets. Batting second, DGP XI reached the required total in 18 overs with Shashi Kumar being the top scorer. He made 49 runs, followed by Naresh and Jatinder with 34 and 13 runs in their respective accounts. From Engineers XI, Vishare took two wickets, followed by Ravi Kant and Anurudh, who shared apiece each. In this match, DIG Jammu-Kathua range, Farooq Khan was special guest.
