| Major police reshuffle on cards in Jammu and Kashmir | | | Jammu,October 14 :-A major reshuffle in the middle rung of the police in Jammu and Kashmir is on the cards after the state Government failed to get 57 officers, who had been promoted to the rank of SPs over a year ago, inducted in the CRPF on deputation. Official sources told Kashmir Independent Press on Saturday that the Government has now decided to adjust the 57 officers within the state. These officers, despite having been elevated to the rank of SPs,continued to work as DSPs which had caused deep embarrassment to them. Besides the adjustment of these officers the Government has formulated a list of 20 officers in the rank of SPs and SSPs who are to be shifted from the seats they hold at present. The exercise has been initiated to transfer those officers who have spent more than two years at one place. Sources said that among the 20 officers to be transferred include SSP crime and Railways,Mr Sunil Sharma,SSP Reasi,Mr Jagdish Sharma,Mr Aftab Kakroo,AIG Provisioning Police headquarters, Mohd.Salim Beg,SSP PCR Jammu,Sanjay Kotwal,SSP North,Zahid Manhas,SSP South,Shakti Pathak,Rajinder Gupta,SP Rural,Saji Mohan,SP Reasi,SDS Jamwal,SSP PoonchAnant Jain,SP Ganderbal. According to these sources,Mr Aftab Kakroo is likely to be shifted as SSP PCR Jammu and Mohd.Salim Beg will hold the charge of provisioning in the police headquarters. The police authorities were reluctant to transfer Mr Kakroo but had to bow under tremendous pressure. Meanwhile, two senior officers,Mr Ashkoor Wani and Mr Sunil Datt, who had been attached after their names figured in the sex scam, are likely to be posted again after they were able to convince the Government that the reports about their involvement in the sex scandal were totally baseless. It is not yet known whether the transfer orders and the one releated to the adjustment of 57 officers are to be issued before the Durbar move or soon after the civil secretariat reopened in Jammu in the first week of November. |
