| JKAACL felicitates Sham Dutt 'Parag' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 19:A noted dogri writer Sham Dutt Parag was felicitated by the Jammu Kashmir academy of art, culture and language (JKAACL) at KL Saigal hall here today. He on the occasion was presented with citation, shawl and a bouquet by the academy. The programme was attended by a galaxy of people, representing different walks of life. Parag born in 1928 at Pouni and district Reasi is considered an authority on dogri literature. "He is an institution in himself," says Editor Dogri, Brij Mohan on the occasion, and added during his career spanning decades Parag did a lot for the promotion and development of languages like Dogri, Punjabi and Hindi. "This is what makes him so special," said additional secretary of the Academy, Shamima Akhtar while presenting the welcome address. As part of the felicitation function a music item was sung by Indu Bala from the compositions of Padam Shree awardee poetess, Padma Sachdeva who was also present on the occasion while music for the recitation was composed by Brij Mohan. During the programme a paper was also read out on the life and works of the poet by Satya Paul Shastri. As part of the programme poems of Sham Parag were also recited by Vishal Gupta and Preshat Dev Singh. The programme was conducted by Editor Dogri, Brij Mohan while Ratan Basotra presented the vote of thanks.
