| Security forces instructed for being more vigilant amidst tourists season | | | Early times report Jammu, Apr 19: Security forces have been directed to be vigilant against any machinations by agencies across LoC following increase in suicide attacks on police and civilians in some places in Pakistan. Reports reaching here from across the border indicate that terrorists, enraged by sustained military operations against Talibans, have stepped up their offensive against the Pakistani security forces so that army and civilian Government were forced to suspend anti-Taliban operations. During the last 48 hours more than 60 people were killed and over 150 wounded in three suicide attacks in Peshawar. It is in this connection that the Indian troops guarding LoC and security forces operating within Jammu and Kashmir have been directed to remain alert so that anti India elements were not able to kick up any major trouble within the state and on the border. Indian intelligence agencies fear that in order to divert attention of people from real internal crisis in Pakistan army and ISI may kick up conflict by pushing into the state bigger groups of militants. Another instruction issued to the security agencies is that proper road opening exercise be carried out daily on the 300-km long highway linking Jammu with Srinagar. Such operations had become necessary after the part of the highway has been handed over to CR PF following withdrawal of troops from the highway duty. Official sources said that besides the Government employees tourist traffic to Srinagar will start picking up from the end of the current month. And majority of the employees and the tourists were expected to travel to Srinagar by road which has made it mandatory for the security forces to ensure complete safety of the employees and the tourists. Yet another instruction to the senior functionaries of the police and the paramilitary forces in the Kashmir valley is that they should deploy additional companies of the security personnel in and around the tourist resorts and on the roads frequented by the visitors so that militants were not able to target the excursionists which otherwise casts a shadow on the tourist traffic to the valley.
