| Gas agencies at each block of the State soon: Akhoon | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 19: The Government has embarked upon an ambitious plan to open Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) agencies in each block of the State to provide cooking gas to the people at their doorsteps. The allotment of gas agencies would be made in a transparent way through draw of lots. This was announced by the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public distribution and transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon, while speaking at function organized in observance of the birth anniversary of the founder of Indian constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, at Reasi last evening. The Minister said the coalition Government is endeavoring to provide all the basic facilities to the people at the gross roots level and everybody, irrespective of region, caste and creed would get justice. He said the Government has decided to provide temporary ration cards to the nomadic Gujars and Bakerwals so that they could get ration while migrating from one place to another without any difficulty. He said all the left out families of Gujar and Bakerwals would be provided ration cards, adding that both the Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu have been asked to finalize the lists of genuine beneficiaries in this regard, at the earliest. He said problem of other migrant people, on account of ration facilities, would also be solved shortly. He said drought hit people of the 299 affected villages, of Reasi District have been provided free ration for three months. Akhoon also announced that a new dealership policy is being finalized to open more ration depots in nook and corner of the State to provide ration supply to the people at their door steps. Akhoon said that about 22 tunnels are proposed to be constructed on Srinagar Jammu National Highway to make the passenger travel more comfortable. He said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is keen to construct tunnels at Simthan Kishtwar, Zojila Kargil, Razdan Pass, Gurez etc. to provide round the clock road connectivity to the people of these areas. He said J&K is the only State in the country which has formulated a comprehensive job policy for the unemployed youth of the State. He said the Government has taken a land mark and historic decision to regularize the services of all adhoc, contractual and consolidated employees.
