Panun Kashmir: Homeland care aspiration of KP's

Jammu, Apr 19: The cause of 'Homeland is the care aspiration of all the displaced Kashmiri Pandit's (KPs) and activists of Panun Kashmir would rope in all right thinking people in this noble mission, said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo while addressing the daughters of Panun Kashmir (DOPK) at a function held at Press club here today, were he was the chief guest.
As per press release the programme was held in the backdrop of consistent assaults on the rights of the women in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and in particular attempts to dispossess them of their natural and constitutional rights. Moheni Raina in her welcome address gave a perspective of the activities of the DOPK for the last one year while Bela Kaul, a senior activist from USA, recalled the contribution of PANUN KASHMIR during Amarnath agitation. She was forthright in her support to the women cause and said that the women of Jammu have made history by their great contribution in this agitation and also said that the Kashmiri Pandit fraternity in America cherishes the positive impact that Kumar Chrungoo was able to make during his last visit to the US.
Usha Chaudhry in her address said that the women folk of the region is being discriminated consistently and expressed satisfaction that the infamous PRC Bill was rejected in the upper house of the Assembly. Mamta Singh presented a paper on the topic Why the women of the state are being always discriminated and said that despite the rejection of the PRC Bill, we have to remain on guard against the forces inimical to the interests of the region and the women folk in general. The women activists have to take proactive measures to prevent any such mischief in future, she said and added no struggle is complete without involvement of women in it.
Usha Chaudhry, General Secretary, State BJP and Mamta Singh, National Executive Member of Mahila Morcha were the guests of honour in the programme, Bela Kaul, Senior member of Kashmir Overseas Association-US was the special guest on the occasion. On this occasion, Vimla Chrungoo, Secretary and Sneh Ganhar, Asstt. Secretary of DOPK presented portraits of Mata Vitasta to Usha Chaudhry and Mamta Singh in recognition of their contribution to the society. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sarojini Kuchroo, Working committee member of DOPK.
