| Impose ban on import of metal scrap: ATF | | |
Early Times Report Kathua, Apr 19: The president of Anti Terrorism Front (ATF) Sardar Surinder Singh has urged upon the state government to impose ban on the import of metal scrap to metal industries functioning in industrial area of Kathua. Addressing the media persons here today, Singh said that many industrial units located in the industrial areas of Kathua are importing metal scrap from outside the state i.e Delhi, Mumbai and other places and the Industrial area is situated nearby many residential colonies like Govindsar, Maroli, Tara Nagar, Amrit Vihar, CTM Colony etc fear out come of radiation from metals. He said in view of the accident of radiation from the a radioactive element cobalt in which five people have fallen seriously ill due to radiations by scrap in Mayapuri, Delhi there is every possibility of radiation in metal unit Kathua also. He further said that endangering the lives of workers and thousands of people living nearby these industries government is requested to adopt strong measures to put ban the vehicle carrying metal scrap from the outside in the state. In the press conference the Vinod Gupta, Tej Paul, Mohinder Singh, Nek Mohammad and others were present and demanded immediate ban on metal scrap.
