| Malik inaugurate blood donation camp at GWC Gandhinagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 19: Aimed at making students aware about the significance of blood donation, which saves precious human lives in most critical situation, the Department of Higher Education in collaboration with Government Medical College, Jammu today organised an awareness camp at Government College for Women, Gandhinagar. Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik was the chief guest on the occasion. Director Colleges, Dr. Sham Lal Gupta, presided over the function while Professor and Head of Transfusion Medicines, Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr. T.R. Raina, Anil Jogi, Yoga expert, Anil Padha, Secretary Red Cross Society, Jammu, Principals of different colleges of Jammu province, facility members and students were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Malik appreciated the efforts of Dr. Raina for presenting a detailed awareness data to the participants regarding the need and necessity of blood donation voluntarily by the younger generation in today's time when accidents, natural calamities and other dreaded diseases are taking toll of human life. He assured Dr. T.R. Raina that all colleges of our state would cooperate in this endear and exhorted upon the general public to analyze the social issues and address them with result oriented judgements. He added that Blood Banks are functioning at all district hospitals of the State and newly created districts are also being equipped with this vital facility to meet emergency services. Grace marks would be awarded to the students, who donate, he added. Earlier, Dr. Raina presented a power point presentation on importance of blood donation. Principal, Women College Gandhinagar, Prof. Nalni Kohli, in her welcome address, thanked the Minister and Dr. Raina for their support in organising this event in their college. Professor Zaman Choudhary of the Government Women College, Gandhinagar presented vote of thanks.
