| RDD JE caught accepting bribe | | | JAMMU: A junior engineer (JE) of rural development department (RDD) was caught red handed while accepting bribe by the sleuths of statevigilance organisation (SVO) at Surankote in Poonch today.
The JE -- Salim Malik -- was at present posted in RDD's Surankote block.
SVO sources said Mohammad Rashid, a contractor, of Sangla Surankote lodged a written complaint with SVO that JE Malik had been demanding from him Rs 10,000 as bribe for preparing bills to release payment against the construction of panchayat ghar at lower Sangla Surankote.
Acting on the complaint, the SVO sleuths laid a trap and arrested the JE red handed while accepting bribe from Rashid in the presence of independent witnesses. A case under section 5(2) of J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006, read with section 161 of RPC was registered in SVO police station against him.
