| Demand for granting AHDC status to Chenab Valley voiced | | | JAMMU OCT-14- All Party Action Committee for Chenab Valley Autonomous Hill Development Council (CVAHDC) has expressed the hope that Chief Minister would realize the genuineness of their demand and accord Autonomies Hill Development Council status to entire Chenab Valley belt and brings a Bill to this effect in the forthcoming session of the State legislature. M. Hashmi President and Hari Krishen Tickoo Secretary of the All Party Action Committee for CVAHDC have drawn the attention of the Chief Minister towards the inaccessibility and backwardness of entire Doda district and strongly pleaded for grant of AHDC status to the entire Chenab Valley at par with Ladakh and Kargil Councils. They maintained that granting this status to the hilly terrain of Jammu province would help its speedy development as it has remained in the background in view of its inaccessibility. Reacting over the Chief Minister’s statement at the inaugural function of ‘Shamasbani Magazine’ that ‘the progress and development of Pahari dilect and Pahari culture is not possible without according them Scheduled Tribe status’, the Action Committee leaders in a joint statement said that they are not against granting ST status to Pahari speaking people. They have expressed confidence that Azad led government would ensure that all the hurdles are removed and ST status granted to Pahari speaking people at the earliest.
