| BJP activists from J&K leave for 'Sansad Chalo' rally | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 20: Hundreds of BJP activists today left for New Delhi to take part in the party's scheduled 'Sansad Chalo' rally programme against price rise to be held tomorrow. A total of 14 buses carrying party activists from all the three constituencies of Jammu city, Akhnoor, Nagrota, R.S.Pura and Bishnah were flagged off by the state president Shamsher Singh Manhas and Leader of Legislators Party, Chaman Lal Gupta. Besides buses, many activists left through trains to reach New Delhi. As per the press statement, of the total 40 buses carrying 2000 party activists, 26 buses left from Kathua, Samba, Hiranagar, Bani, Basohli, Bilawar and Udhamour. The Party activists in three mini buses from Kashmir also reached Jammu for their onward jouney to New Delhi. Shamsher Singh Manhas, while briefing about the "Sansad Chalo Rally", said that the prices of the essential items through out the country have increased manifold but the Congress-led UPA is least concerned for it. "Although the Congress won the last parliamentary election on the pleasing slogan of -"Congress ka haath, Gareeb ke Saath", but after coming to power, it forgot its promises of eradicating poverty and, instead started working against the interests of the poor," Manhas alleged and added, "It is due to its pro-capitalist policies that the prices of esential items are sky rocketing." "The party has launched country wide signature campaign to mobilize public opinion against the wrong policies of the UPA with a hope that it would wake up and take effective steps to control the prices. It is in this context the BJP at the national level decided to organise a massive protest rally at New Delhi on April 21 to build pressure on UPA to not play with the survival of a common man and frame a clear cut policy aimed at bringing down the prices," he maintained.
