EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 20: Department of Physical Education clinched the men's Inter-Department Volleyball title outplaying Department of Economics in straight sets in the final played today at University of Jammu courts, here. In the best of five title clash, Physical Education remained in commanding position throughout winning the opener rather easily. However, in the following sets, Economics fought back but could not stop Physical Education from winning the match. The Results: 25-07, 25-18, 25-15. Vikas Karlopia, Roshan Lal and Vikrant Singh played fine game for the winners while Moninder, Ashutosh fought well from Economics Department. Both the teams enjoyed a good crowd support as both the departments were there at the venue in full strength to boost their respective teams. The final was officiated by Shashi Sharma (VFI referee), Dr Rajender Lal, Madhuri Jamwal and Sunaina. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played yesterday, Department of Economics defeated Department of Law 2-1 (10-25, 28-26, 15-6) and Physical Education registered a straight sets win over The Business School. The score: 25-16, 25-17. Registrar of the University of Jammu, Dr P S Pathania was chief guest in the final, who encouraged both the teams and witnessed first two sets. He was accompanied by Director Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau. Among others present were Romesh Sharma, Ramesh Magotra, Dr Brij Baloria, Jai Bharat, Mandeep Singh and Vikram Jamwal.
