Rashid | | EARLY TIMES REPORT | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Handwara, Apr 20: Stres-sing upon repealing of draconian AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act), MLA Langate Er S A Rasheed today asked the chief minister Omar Abdullah to use his influence and convince the concerned for the same. He was addressing a massive gathering attended by CM and other ministers in Qalamabad township of Langate constituency. Giving examples, he said ,”On the eve of PM Dr Manmohan Singh’s visit to Valley last time, a youth from my constituency, Sajad Ahmad Ganai was killed by army and when you are visiting today, a septuagenarian civilian Habibullah Khan was killed by army in Handwara area. He demanded stern action against the guilty army personnel. MLA Langate made it clear to the CM that he will support him in all his pro-people endeavours “but when I feel peoples’ interests are marred, I will protest.” Refering to inter-district recruitment bill, Rasheed while hailing the CM’s efforts to make possible the passage of Bill in assembly, vowed that his fight against eight percent reservation to SC’s will continue. “This reservation jeopardises the employment prospects of non-SC districts particularly Kupwara,” he said. He thanked the CM for his gracious support and keen interest in development of his constituency. CM in his speech hailed MLA Langate for his excellent performance in his constituency. He announced an ITI and two branches of J&K Bank in his constituency. Earlier CM was accorded a warm reception and taken in a procession on the five km decorated road leading to venue, amid traditional Wanvun by women. The venue and the road leading to it was bedecked with skyblue flags.Besides the CM, ministers G M Saroori, Sakina Yatoo, Nasir Aslam Wani and Javaid Ahmad Dar addressed the public meeting
