Srinagar DD doesn't regard RTI
4/21/2010 12:29:47 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 20: Director Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, Dr Rafeeq Masoodi, has treated an application under RTI Act with contempt by declining to provide details of the in-house programmes purportedly produced by seven producers of DDK Srinagar in the last two years of his posting at the station.
Jammu-based veteran advocate Sheikh Shakil had filed the application under RTI on March 19th, 2010, seeking information regarding the in-house programmes produced by seven DDK Srinagar producers, namely Sudesh Bakshi, Kousar Parveen, Syed Zeeshan Fazil, Rashid Javed, Haleema Parveen, Shammi Shayir and Mufti Riyaz. Under RTI, Director DDK Srinagar was supposed to provide the information within 28 days. Failure in acting on the application amounts to turning down the applicant's request.
Advocate Shakil is now approaching the appellate authority in Doordrashan through Director General of DD to seek the information as also necessary action against Director DDK Srinagar.
