| IED found near Doda, tragedy averted | | | JAMMU: A possible tragedy was averted at Trungal near Assar in Doda this morning with the timely detection of an improvised explosive device (IED).
The IED, planted by militants in the roadside bushes, was discovered by a road opening party (ROP) of army at about 8.30 am, police sources said.
Soon thereafter, the movement of vehicles on the road was stopped and the area was cordoned off by the troops.
Sources said the IED was defused at about 11.30 am. Locals were questioned by police and troops, but none of them could provide any clue to the identity of the militant or militant sympathiser who had placed the IED in the bushes, the sources added.
