| NRHM organizes women health awareness camp | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 21: With a view to create awareness about various components of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) a women health awareness camp was organized by the directorate of field publicity, government of India in coordination with project officer (ICDS) at Kot Bhalwal here today. Nearly as hundred rural women mostly drawn from anganwadi centres of Kot Bhalwal project participated. In the seminar entitled "status of women with special reference to health. Anju Bala from Kot Badani, Sarita Rajput from Sargana, Saroj Devi from Rati-Chapri, Raj Kumari from Dhartan Khoo, Santosh Kumari from Marjali and Begum Razia from Tamrorian village expressed their views and hailed the implementation of NRHM in the state as right step towards improving the health of women and children. It was revealed that institutional deliveries have been increased resulting thereof decline in mortality rates of mother and children to greater extent. The speakers also underlined the importance of literacy among women which is hardly 40% in J&K state in order to empower them in all spheres of life.The speakers were honoured with utility gifts on the occasion, while VK Magotra exhorted the women folk to avail the benefits of various schemes undertaken by the government for their welfare. The supervisors namely Indu Bala, Jyoti and Manpreet Kour of the project extended their cooperation in making the programme successful. A photo exhibition on the subject with special reference to Polio eradication was the special attraction of the programe.
