| Prevailing deprivation, frustration in Jammu dangerous to state: JSM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 21: Prof. Virender Gupta, H.B. Khajuria, Capt. Anil Gour and Chandra Uday Sharma all leaders of Jammu State Morcha strongly condemned stand of Bhartiya Janta Party for setting up wrong priorities in their agenda. JSM understands that Article 370 is responsible for grooming the tendencies of separatism, increasing the alienation of the people of Kashmir Valley and allowed the secessionist elements to exploit the situation. But mere abrogation of Article 370 is not going to end the continued discrimination against Jammu region and change the plight of its people and also finish the centrifugal tendencies. The working committee failed to pin point the essentials required for the political empowerment of the people of Jammu region and end the discrimination against them forever. The working committee even failed to chalk out strategy to fight against secessionist forces in the state and at the national level. The problems being faced in J&K State with regarding the internal security was not discussed at all.
JSM condemns State BJP for not discussing any of the issues that politically empowers the people of Jammu. Demand of Separate Statehood for Jammu region for which it off and on ask for in threatening tone and that becomes its agenda in the assembly elections. BJP neither asked for Greater Autonomy for Jammu province, nor for Sub-Statehood that guarantees Separate Assembly and separate administrative structure for the province, the demand that was made by Arun Jaitley in the Working Group constituted by the Prime- Minister of India. The BJP even did not demand for judicial share for Jammuites in professional institutions, in Government offices, in development activities, what to talk of its determination to fight for these issues. They even did not demand for the bifurcation of state offices including the civil secretariat. BJP has betrayed confidence & faith reposed in it by people of Jammu during last Assembly Elections.
For more than 60 years BJP is demanding for the abrogation of Article 370 and raising the voice against the discrimination being meted to the people of Jammu region.
Neither the Article 370 has been scrapped nor the discrimination against Jammuites ended. In fact, the discrimination has increased multifold and now there is danger to the very identity and culture of Jammu region. There is danger that the terrorism and separatist tendencies and activities may engulf the Jammu province also.
