| Rehab task forces to revive sick industrial units in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 21: The state Government's efforts for wooing major industrial houses for setting up their units in Jammu and Kashmir have not yielded any results so far. Reason: the concerned Government agencies had to adopt slow process in attracting big industrial houses to the state for setting up their units because no suitable land was available, as per official sources. Sources said the Government has decided to lay emphasis on reviving the closed and the sick units. Two Rehabilitation task forces, one for the Kashmir valley and the other for the Jammu region, have been constituted to initiate measures for reopening of the closed units and for making the sick units to run on profit.A corpus fund of Rs.100 crores have been earmarked for the revival scheme. In addition to this industrial units occupied by the security forces were being vacated by the forces and fresh bids will be made to encoage fresh ent erpreneurs to open their units in these sheds.Sources said that the authorities of the SIDCO and the Dir ectorate of Indust ries have been asked to initiate measures which would discourage fake enterpreneurs who were trying to build sheds simply to gulp down st ate and central Government incentives. They have been also directed to take possession of those sheds in the industrial est ates which have remained closed for sever al year s after their owners suffered losses. Once these sheds were ready for possession, new enterpreneurs would be encouraged to open their units in these sheds. Those who open their units in these sheds would purchase these sheds from the orginal owners.
