| Inculcate professionalism: Army Chief to officers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 21: Highlighting the strengths and core competencies of Indian army, army chief, General VK Singh today called upon officers to inculcate the deepest sense of professionalism while working in the interest of the nation. On his arrival here yesterday on a three-day visit to the state, he had visited Leh and Srinagar. Today, he visited Udhampur where he addressed officers of Udhampur and Nagrota garrisons. A defence spokesman said while highlighting the strengths and core competencies of the Indian army, the army chief asked the officers to display professionalism while discharging their duties. He also stressed upon the rich traditions and the value system base and emphasised the importance to remain focused on the job at hand while preparing for all contingencies. In a detailed interaction with GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen BS Jaswal, Gen Singh reviewed the security situation in the state. A lunch was also hosted in his honour, which was attended by senior officers and their wives. The army chief later moved to Nagrota, the spokesman added. FWO president and Gen Singh's wife Bharti Singh interacted with the wives of all ranks in the forenoon and spoke about the high traditions and the dedication of army wives.
