Centre approves Rs 1467 cr for J&K under PMGSY

NEW DELHI, Apr 22: Minister for R&B, GM Saroori, today, said that Centre has sanctioned Rs 1467 crore under 7th phase of Prime Ministers' Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) to take forward the road projects in Jammu and Kashmir on a massive scale.
After meeting Union Minister for Rural Development, CP Joshi in New Delhi, this afternoon, Saroori said that the Centre has also approved a special dispensation of providing road connectivity to every village in Jammu and Kashmir, having population of 250 or more. This is against the national norm of providing road connectivity to villages having population of 1000, he said, adding this dispensation will enable the State Government to embark on a massive road net work in the far flung areas. Saroori also called on Union Minsiter for Finance Pranab Mukherji and discussed political and developmental issues of the state. He pleaded for providing funds to meet the expenses on account of clearance of the areas to the employees of the state. While meeting with Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saroori demanded establishment of sub health centres at every 5 km and one health centre at every 10 km in the hilly and remote areas to improve the healthcare facilitates in the state. Azad assured the Minister that the matter is in active consideration of the Centre and decision would take shortly. Azad said that the Centre would provide every possible assistance to the state to ensure all round development besides improving medicare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Saroori had a meeting with Member Parliament and Congress General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi and apprised him about the latest political and development scenario of the state. He also apprised him about the functioning of the coalition government in the state. Both discussed in detail the party issues and political issues of the state and the measures need to be taken to strengthen the party base line in the state. Saroori informed him that people are appreciating the role of the party and gaining support day by day.
