| JURSEA opposes fees hike, demands reconsideration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 22: Jammu University Research Scho-lars Executive Association has called upon the Unive-rsity authorities not to increase fee for Ph D and other courses. Addressing media persons here today, JURSEA Pres-ident Rakesh Chib said that by increasing fee, University administration is mounting pressure and burden on students as well as their families. He questioned the need to enhance the Ph D fee by Rs 2300 and why they are going for a hike in the fee for professional courses now. Chib alleged that JU is also intended to increase the fees for PG Courses adding that authorities should reconsider their decision of increasing fee structure. He said that a lot of funds are collected from the students and also financial assistance is being provided by the central agencies but there is no accountability regarding the utilization adding that a few days back JURSEA has also demanded the details of the funds being spent by the Directorate of Distance Education. Rakesh Chib warned the University authorities that if the decision to hike fee structure is not reconsidered, JURSEA will launch an agitation.
