Sham attaches BMO, Purmandal for dereliction of duties

Jammu, Apr 22: Taking serious note of the complaint made by the people against Block Medical Officer (BMO), Purmandal, Dr. Rakesh Gandotra for dereliction of duties, the Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma today ordered his attachment to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar till further orders. Issuing strict warning to the doctors and para-medics for any slackness towards duties, the Minister said that punctuality and work culture in the health institutions will be ensured at all costs and anybody found violating the standing instructions will be dealt sternly. He said the Government has taken numerous steps to improve the working conditions for the doctors and para-medical staff across the State and they have to deliver as per the expectations of the people. The Minister paid surprise visits to Public Health Centre (PHC), Purmandal, Health Sub-Centre, Utter Behni, PHC, Gurah Slathia and Accidental Hospital, Vijay-pur and took stock of the medicare facilities being provided to the patients.
The Minister issued instructions to the authorities to impose suitable fine on Dr Amrish Kohli, PHC, Gurah Slathia, Dr. Anoop Manhas and Dr. Sandeep Bhat of Accidental Hospital, Vijay-pur for certain lapses on their part. He also issued instructions for serving Show Cause Notices and deduction of one day's salary of the doctors and para-medical staff engaged under (NRHM), who were found absent from duty at Purmandal and Utter Behni. The Minister also called for maintaining proper sanitation in and around the institutions and ensuring night stay of the doctors at their headquarters. He also interacted with the local people and obtained feedback about the functioning of various institutions. He asked them to monitor the activities of these institutions, enabling him to further improve the services, said Sharma.
Earlier, a deputation of Fruit Growers of Valley and Jammu called on the Minister and discussed various issues pertaining to the upgradation of facilities in the Mandis, proper transportation of their products, proper marketing facilities, arranging special railway coaches for different destinations etc. The Minister gave patient hearing to the deputationists and assured that their all genuine demands will be examined on priority for appropriate disposal. The deputation comprised, Veer Ji Raina, Mohammad Amin, G.M.B-anday, F.A.Malik, M.A.Dar, Haji Mohammad Yousuf and others. Director Horticulture (Planning and Marketing), Mr. M.S.Qasba was also present on the occasion.
