With this, the number of arrested persons in the alleged scam has risen to nine. Four persons, including a girl student of 12th class, her father and a BOSE employee, were apprehended in earlier raids.Police sources said Mohan told his interrogators that he charged between Rs 20,000-30,000 per question paper. A leaked science paper of 10th class (regular) was also seized from the arrested persons. Sources said after Tuesday's raids by Gandhi Nagar police on answer sheet smugglers, Miran Sahib police, led by a DSP (probationer), today laid hands on two 10th class students -- Lovedeep Singh, son of Tarsem Singh of Dharap and Satnam Singh, son of Lakhvinder Singh of Sainik Colony -- along with some leaked papers. Their interrogation led police to the arrest of computer operator Ajay Bharti from Nanak Nagar. He was allegedly involved in drafting answers of the leaked question papers. SP (headquarters) J S Johar said based on further interrogation of the three accused, police arrested government school teachers -- Gurdev Singh of Nanak Nagar and Balbir Singh. While Gurdev was posted as teacher in government high school at Kheer Pind, Balbir was master in government high school, Sarore. When the two teachers were grilled, they disclosed that the alleged kingpin of the whole racket was BOSE assistant secretary Mohan Singh. Mohan too was rounded up and put to sustained interrogation during which he allegedly told police that he charged between Rs 20,000 to 30,000 per paper. Sources said Mohan used to dictate the exam questions of different subjects to the two teachers on phone in lieu of money. The two teachers then allegedly sold the questions to students at exorbitant rates. Mohan's alleged involvement in the smuggling of answer sheets outside the board office was also not ruled out.Police had registered a case against the accused under sections 409, 109, 353 and 3/20 of RPC. BOSE chairman Deshbandu said strict action under law would be taken against the BOSE employees found involved in the leakage of question papers and smuggling of answer sheets. Some more arrests were likely to be made in the days to come, the sources added.
