| SRTC retirees demand settlement of dues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 23: State Road Transport Corporation Volunteer Retirement Employees Association (SRTCVREA) has alleged that management of corporation is adopting adamant attitude by not clearing one time settlement of dues. Addressing media persons, Dev Raj Bali, president of the association said it was promised by the management that the settlement of payment will be made within two months but sorry to state that about 3 months have been passed we have not been paid our dues. He demanded pending COLA (60 slabs) and arrears since1999, two installments of 5th Pay Commission due since 1997 besides implementation of 6th pay commission. Bali said that he opted for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) vide circular No160/JKSRTC/MD of 2010 dated 22.01.2010 and 385 employees have taken the VRS while 273 employees took VRS since October 2008 and 14 employees took VRS vide order No.JKSRTC/MD/PS/267 dated 27.3.2010 thus there are total 672 employees who have taken the VRS but their future is in dark without finances. Mohammad Yaseen, General Secretary of the association condemned the statement of the MD J&K SRTC while responding to the queries raised by the media has admitted that the CP Fund contribution of the employees had not been deposited for last several years with the concerning Department and SRTC is doing efforts to deposit the same within two to three years was irresponsible statement and condemnable. The association appealed the Chief Minister Omer Abdullah to keep his wording on the November 9 that they have kept separate package for the VRS for one time payment.
