| Saroori inaugurates 3-day Executive Development Prog | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 23: Minister for R&B, G M Saroori, today, inaugurated 3-day Executive Development Programme in presence of a galaxy of engineering experts and technocrats of national fame at Hotel Asia. Organized by Engineering Development Council (EDC), New Delhi, the programme is aimed at acquainting the engineers of the State about the emerging technologies in the filed of civil engineering at global level. Commissioner Secretary, Mehboob Iqbal, Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu D L Sharma, MD, JKPCC, Tehsin Mustaffa, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Shadi Lal, Chairman, Engineer Development Council (EDC), S.P.Gupta, Dire-ctor, EDC, Anil Agarwal and other senior functionaries of EDC were present. Addressing participants, Saroori asked the engineers to update their knowledge with the fast growing economy and changing building technologies to enhance technical capabilities and meeting the demands of the job. "It is not sufficient to learn new technology but also to adopt them in day to day job," Saroori exhorted. The Minister said that such training programmes would definitely improve the technical capability of engineers thereby ensuring creation of reliable and durable infrastructural base in the State. Saroori emphasized upon engineers to keep pace with the latest technologies emerging in the field of civil engineering, adding that time has come to adopt these techniques in day to day work. The Minister asked the engineers to also keep in mind the environmental aspects of the areas, while designing the blue print and preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of the projects. He instructed engineers to apply new technologies in constructing Crash Barriers to check frequent road accidents on National Highways. He advised engineers participating in the training programme to take full benefit of the programme and acquire new techniques and subsequently adopt these while framing projects. Mehboob Iqbal and S.P.Gupta also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the advantages and benefits of holding such programmes. They asked engineers to attend all the sessions and attain full advantage of the programme. The faculty experts like Prof Prakash Sejwal, Er. Rajiv Rampal, Er.Jitendera Sharma, Er. Navne Mishra, Er. Vikram Handoo, Er. Neeraj Garg, Er. Ramesh Kumar Gupta will deliver presentations during 3-day programme.
