| Underprivileged people deserve utmost care: Chib | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Apr 23: Minister for Medical Education R S Chib today said that underprivileged people of our society deserve utmost care both by the government as well as non-governmental organizations functioning in the state. The Minister was addressing a gathering of people after inaugurating Blue Balloon Public Health Centre and Awareness Camp at Sangam Anantnag, organized by J&K Tameer-e-Mashira a voluntary organization. Enumerating the steps being taken by the government in ameliorating the lot of people living below poverty line, the Minister said that several social welfare schemes like old age pension ISSS, and other schemes launched by state and central government are aimed at providing succour to orphans, destitute and other deserving people. Appreciating the endeavour of the NGO, organizing Medical and Awareness Camp, Chib said that such organizations deserve encouragement. The Minister announced a cash prize for the students who presented a colorful cultural programme on the occasion. MLA G. A. Mir while addressing the function said that NGO's are provided financial assistance by the State and Central government so that the deserving and needy persons would be benefited by various schemes of welfare and development. He said that several NGO's are functioning in Anantnag district for the betterment and upliftment of masses especially women folk. He said that Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and his cabinet colleagues are engaged in bringing prosperity in nook and corner of the state especially people living in far flung and remote areas.
