| Teacher suspended for dereliction of duty | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 24: A government primary school teacher was today suspended by sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Mendhar, after he was found guilty of a serious dereliction of duty. Official sources said a government primary school, situated across the border fencing at Dehra Dipsi in Mendhar, had 40 odd students and only one teacher. As the teacher, whom sources identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, did not go to school for the past about 20 days, the institution was closed, the sources added. A deputation of the angry Dehra Dipsi residents this morning called on SDM, Mendhar, and expressed their resentment over the unauthorised absence of Ibrahim from the school. They told him that due to the Ibrahim's absence, the school was closed as it had only one teacher. Sources said after hearing the people, the SDM immediately ordered the suspension of the teacher. The SDM also wrote a letter to the zonal education officer (ZEO) concerned, asking him to explain as to why he had not taken any action against Ibrahim when he had not attended his duty for 20 days.
