| Court grants bail to JE RDD after 5 days remand | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 24: Special Judge Anticorruption JR Kotwal granted bail to Salim Malik Junior Engineer Rural Development Department Block Surankot, who was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification Rs 10,000 from complainant Mohd Rashid, a contractor. Court after hearing both sides on issue of bail application observed that applicant is in custody of VOJ for about five days so the investigating agency has sufficient time for his custodial interrogation. However, it is not stated that investigating agency has so far undertaken investigation for an aspect other than that for which he has been arrested. Question of temper with evidence does not rise in so far as this case is concerned because tempering with evidence pertaining to trap is not possible for accused; thus, find no sufficient ground for refusing bail to the applicant accused at this stage. Court accepted bail application of accused and admitted him to bail with the direction that he shall be released on his furnishing personal bond to the tune of Rs 20,000 along with surety of same amount.-- JNF
