| Governor for propagation of Gandhian philosophy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 24: Governor, N N Vohra, has emphasized the need for focusing on various aspects of the Gandhiji's life and teachings, especially in the educational institutions, to create greater awareness among the younger generation about the Mahatma's philosophy of truth, tolerance and non-violence. He observed that in the present day world, the Gandhian philosophy has vital relevance for establishing a harmonious and tolerant society. The Governor was interacting with a 13-member delegation of Gandhian workers led by the Chairperson, Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi, Behan Sushri Radha Bhat, who called on him at Raj Bhavan, here today. The Governor called for promotion of Gandhian values for the achievement of peace and prosperity through communal harmony, brotherhood, amity and tolerance. He stressed the usefulness of formulating a comprehensive year-long calendar of activities for creating awareness about Gandhiji's life and philosophy. The Chairperson, Gandhi Peace Foundation, Behan Radha Bhat, presented the Mahatma Gandhi Seva Medal, a souvenir and a handmade woolen shawl to the Governor in recognition of his distinguished services. Sushri Radha Bhat briefed the Governor about the activities of the Gandhi Peace Foundation across the country to propagate Gandhian values. She added that the Foundation intends to launch such awareness programmes in the State also and spoke about her visits and meetings in the Jammu Division in the past three days. The President, Gandhian Global Family, J&K, S. P. Verma, accompanied the delegation.
