| TIC Lakhanpur in shambles | | | Early Times Report

Kathua Apr 25: Thirty years old Tourist Information Center (TIC) at Lakhanpur is still non-functional due to inadequate facilities and infrastructure. Lack of staff, worst conditions due to ignorance by state government has become the fate of office. Jammu and Kashmir being dependent upon tourism sector besides lakhs of people having the only source of income through tourism, it would not be wise to assume that state government is deliberately declining tourism information centre at Lakhanpur for reasons better known to them. Centre have no proper entrance system even the suitable location which can appeal to tourists because its main entrance is surrounded by Bars, wine shops and other unwanted vendors which confuse tourists to get any kind of help and services besides centre is functioning with only two employees where as one is sweeper and other is helper which cannot provide required services to tourists. Crores of tourist's visits state every year but during summer the influx of tourists mostly increase because of Amarnath Yatra but negligent attitude of government and administration is making inconvenience for thousands of people related with tourist trade. Either government wants to prefer tourism in Kashmir only or is in deep slumber.
