| Excise deptt. recover 270 kgs of Lahan | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Apr 25: To curb bootleeging and eradicate illicit distillation of liquor in the state, the sleuths of excise department from sub-excise range Udhampur conducted raids at a number of places in district Reasi here the other day at the villages, Kheralaid, Jambri and Bajunia in district Reasi.
During the raids two women namely Sumir Kour Wd/o Late Hem Singh R/o Kheralaid tehsil and district Reasi and Kamlesh Kour W/o Avtar Singh Labana R/o Jambri, tehsil and district Reasi were found in possession of illicit liquor and two bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the house of Sumir Kour and 3 bottles were recovered from the house of Kamlesh Kour.
Both the accused were booked under section 48 of the J&K excise act. Besides this, about 160 Kgs of Lahan was recovered from the state land in village Bajuina, and 110 kgs of Lahan was recovered from the state land in village, Jambri all the lahan recovered was destroyed on spot.
Excise raids were conducted by Gopal Kumar, Inspector sub-excise range Udhampur alongwith excise staff under the supervision of Naeem Ur Rehman Mugal, excise and taxation officer, Doda Udhampur excise range.
