| Babu Permanand remembered on his 2nd Simriti Divas | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 25: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand has said that the Dalit leader late Babu Permanand would always be remembered for the services rendered for the welfare and development of weaker sections of the society especially Dalit Samaj. The Deputy Chief Minister was chief guest at a function organized by the J&K Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academy (BDSA), Jammu to pay homage to late Babu Permanand on his 2nd death anniversary here today. The Minister for Finance, A R Rather, MLA West, Jammu, Chaman Lal Gupta, JKNPP President Bhim Singh and, MLA Samba, Yashpal Kundal were also present on the occasion. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the late leader born in a poor Dalit family and his parents, although were illiterate, made all possible efforts to impart education to him during difficult days. "He served transport, housing, social welfare, finance and power ministries in J&K and was first Dalit Speaker of J&K Assembly besides tooking over as Governor of Haryana," Tara Chand added. Tara Chand said that the best way to pay tributes to late Babu Permanand ji is to follow his mission and serve the people especially belonging to weaker sections of the society. Responding to the demands put-forth, the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand agreed to name the main road crossing Chowk near BDSA office after the name of as Babu Permanand Road and sympathetic consideration will be given to other demands. The Finance Minister while paying tributes to Babu Permanand said that the late leader had worked all along his life for the welfare and overall development of Dalit Samaj and other weaker sections of the society. On the occasion, MLA West, Jammu, Chaman Lal Gupta, JKNPP President Prof. Bhim Singh and MLA Samba, Yashpal Kundal, Natioanl President, BDSA New Delhi, Prof. S. P. Sumanakshar, President BDSA Sudesh Kumari, Senior Vice President Charan Das Angral and General Secretary, Vijay Bhagat also paid rich tributes to late dalit leader.
