EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 25: Surinder Verma's Hindi play 'Hari Ghaas Par Ghanton Bhar' staged here today at Natrang Studio Theatre in its weekly Sunday Theatre series. The play was directed by Balwant Thakur.
The play opens at a public garden, where three couples have been shown sitting at three different corners, first couple represents the youthful days of life, second a middle aged couple reflecting on the struggling period of life and third couple in their eighties unfolding a long span of ups and downs.
All the three couples interestingly have their different concerns to share, each in contrast to the other. The newly wedded young couple is fully engrossed in youthful fantasy world, they are not concerned with what is happening around them, they are totally devoted to each other, enjoying the annoying and pleasing game with each other.
The middle aged couple is miserably undergoing a stressful life. Be it rising prices, settlement of the children, squeezing resources and growing expenditures, surviving gracefully each moment is a big challenge to them. The old aged couple on the contrary is relaxed of the burdensome life and enjoying the life in a different manner, cherishing the old memories. The old man is critical of the fast paced changing life-styles, particularly the increasingly reduction of dress sizes among young girls.
The old lady contests on this saying that when he has not been able to stop his own grand-daughter from wearing embarrassing dresses, then he has no right to curse others. Surinder Verma in highly poetic manner reflects upon the changing fazes and concerns of life and beautifully portrays the different complexities of life. Watching this play, one believes that the young couple for whom life is a fantastic romantic dream now, may start taking it pragmatically when they reach the middle age and on reaching the old age, they will also confront like the old couple.
The cast of the play who impressed everyone with their able histrionics included Mohit Sharma, Rohit Verma, Sona Mehar, Rajni Bhatti, Vikram Sharma, Richa Sharma & Vasu Gupta. Lights were designed by Ankush Verma executed by Mohd Yaseen. Sumeet Sharma did the presentation & Gaurav Jamwal coordinated the show. Pankush Verma did the hall management.
