| NGOs awaiting govt nod for setting up langars | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 25 : On one hand the security forces have already started preparing for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage to the cave shrine but on the other hand several religious organisations and NGOS' are still awaiting the permission to set up langars and arrange logistics to set their house in order in time. In a recent communication to the Chairman of the Amarnath Shrine board, National President of the Shri Amarnath yatra welfare Organisation Rajinder Sharma has urged the Governor to expedite the process of granting permissions to those organisations desirous of setting up langars at base camps in Pahalgam, Baltal and along the yatra track for thousands of pilgrims. Raising the issue discussed in their previous meeting with one of the senior functionaries of the Shrine Board Rajinder Sharma in his letter has made mention of the fact that they have been given to undertsand that the permission would be granted at the earliest but till date no further progress has been made. In addition the President of the Shri Amarnath Yatra welfare organisation has also urged the Governor to direct the authorities to allocate adequate space for setting up of langars and give relaxation as regards identification of the helpers, assistants deployed to smoothly run the langars. Requests have been forwarded to the Governor to create adequate infrastructure facilities for the accommodation of yatris at all the base camps including better road network and other facilities.
