| Now, public utility services to be linked to UID scheme | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 25: TO make working in various sectors transparent, the National Conference led Government has decided to link various public utility services to the Unique Identification (UID) scheme in order to plug in loopholes in these facilities. Official sources said that the central Government has already launched the UID scheme for all its citizens after Delhi created the Unique Identifiation Authority of India. According to these sources, the state Government is in touch with this authority so that Jammu and Kashmir took the lead in getting the first set of UID numbers in the state. Once it materialised it would prove an effective platform for financial inclusion and targeted subsidy payments. The Government plans to bring the recently announced Voluntary Service Allowance under the ambit of this scheme. The Voluntary Service Allowance scheme has been intropduced to provide some financial help to the uneployed youth who belong to families below the poverty line or to the financially weaker sections of the society. Meanwhile, the stat e Government has decided to bring the PDS under electronically controlled system which would monitor the movement, stocking of foodgrains, issuance to the dealers and monitoring the distribution of foodgrains to the targeted population. Another major issue that has added the woes of people in the state is grant of Permanent Resident Certificates. Even the genuine citizens of the state have to spend a lot of money for securing the issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates. Not only this during the last over 30 years some non-state subjects have managed to get Permanent resident Certificates. It has now been decided that matters connected with the issuance of the Permanent Resident Certifi-cates too will be linked with the UID scheme.
