| Bhalla announces Rs 192 Cr project for Gandhinagar | | Upgradation of drinking water facilities | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 25: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that Government has approved Rs. 192 crore for upgradation of drinking water facilities in and around Gandhi Nagar. Addressing a public meeting at Ward No. 22 in Shastri Nagar, the Minister said that Coalition Government was committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of three regions of the State which include drinking water, road connectivity, electricity, healthcare, drainage system and education. He said that a Rs. 3.5 crore tube well has already been dedicated to the People of Gandhi Nagar area. He said that Rs. 15 crore over head tanks are under construction for storage of drinking water, completion of these drinking water scarcity in Gandhi Nagar and its adjoining areas would be improve to a large extent. Bhalla said that Government has sanctioned Rs. 50 lakh for widening and upgradation of Trikuta Nagar road and asked the executing agency to complete the works within stipulated time. For upgradation of the power infrastructure in Shastri Nagar and its adjoining areas, the Coalition Government has earmarked Rs. 4.5 crore. Instructions have been issued to Power Development Department to identify the land so that the work could be started. The Minister said that coalition Government has made all out efforts to provide all infrastructural facilities to the Bahu Fort and Harki Poodi visitors including public convenience, cafeteria and tourist reception centre besides wayside facilities. He said the Government has sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for construction of view points, installation of high mast lights, walkway and road widening. He said the Centre Government has approved additional funds of Rs. 25 crore for construction of artificial lake in Niki Tawi near Belicharana. He said the lake would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 crore. The Minister said that Government has released Rs. 55 lakh for up-gradation of cremation ground at Gorkha Nagar in Bahu Fort area. He asked the executing agency to complete it within stipulated time on modern lines for the benefit of general masses. Bhalla visited Sainik Colony and inspected the ongoing construction work of Multi Purpose Hall, completed at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh. He said that on the completion of hall, the locals would be arranged social as well as religious functions there on nominal charges. To facilitate the people of Greater Kailash, Sainik Colony and its adjoining areas, a Shopping Complex would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 8 crore at Sainik Colony. Earlier, Bhalla inaugurated the five-kilometer long blacktopping work at Channi HImmat, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 16 lakh.
