Football: JKP awarded match as opponent walks away

JAMMU, Apr 25: The Jammu and Kashmir Police today awarded the match by umpires after the opponent team, Sainik Colony, walked away in protest in the ongoing 2nd Ishmeet Memorial Football Tournament at Boys High School, Simbal Camp, here. Earlier, in the first 30-minute game the match was goalless. However, as per the organizers, Sainik Colony protested for being pitted against a strong team in the first round and walked away. Finding the team not in a mood to resume the game, the penal of officials awarded the match to J&K Police.
With the victory of J&K Police, the quarterfinals line-up has been drawn. Now, in the first quarterfinal, to be played tomorrow, Richi Land Club shall take on Chowala Club R S Pura at 4.30 pm at the same venue.
