| 'Resolve pending representations of KAS aspirants' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 26: A group of over 50 KAS aspirants of Jammu region, who recently took the Mains Examination today held an emergency meeting at University of Jammu (JU) under the chairmanship of Suraj Prakash Sharma and demanded from the Chairman of J&K Public Service Commission to decide about the pending representations of aggrieved KAS aspirants at the earliest which has created unrest among them. The meeting expressed serious concern over the wrong paper setting pattern adopted by the PSC authorities in some of the optional subjects, including Chemistry-B, Dogri-B, Zoology-B, Geography-B and Agriculture-B. They also noted that most of the questions were out of the prescribed syllabus owing to which the chances of aspirants who appeared in the above said optional subjects received a severe dent. The meeting demanded that fair chance be given to all the candidates as been given to the candidates who took Agricultural Sciences. "The paper of Agriculture-B was conducted again following the report of out of syllabus questions and boycott of the same by the candidates but, the genuine demand of the other aggrieved candidates is being ignored completely which is a grave injustice," the meeting said. The meeting further said that over 10 days has been passed but the PSC authorities have not disposed the representations regarding Chemistry-B, Dogri-B, Zoology-B and Geography-B. We condemned the attitude of PSC Chairman for ignoring us as we are feeling cheated as our ouster from the final merit list is almost certain because of out of syllabus question papers while those who had opted for other papers as optional will gain from it. The meeting suggested to PSC that if re-conduct of examination is not possible than the policy of Scaling/ Moderation at the time of evaluation so as to protect the right of candidates and give fair and equal opportunity to all. It is pertinent to mention here that Scaling/ Moderation is done not only in the subjective-type main examination but also in the objective-type preliminary examination of UPSC with a sole aim to give equal opportunity to candidates of all optional subjects as different subjects have different difficulty levels. The meeting unanimously decided to give a deadline of 4 days to PSC authorities to respond to their demand otherwise, threatened to launch hunger strike at PSC office and also, to approach judiciary to address their grievance.
