BJP concerned over rise in infiltration bids
4/26/2010 11:31:27 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 26: Expressing concern over the increase in militancy related incidents in the state and intrusion bids from across the border, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Shamsher Singh Manhas today asked government to deal with the situation with a firm hand so that the confidence of the nationalist forces is maintained.
The arc of intrusion bids from the borders have now extended up to Punjab borders and it shows desperation on the part of agencies across the border to create disturbances in the state, Manhas said in a statement here. Simultaneously, there has been increase in militancy-related incidents in different parts of the state, which is also a disturbing situation for nationalist forces.
Accusing the government , especially the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who heads the Unified Headquarters (UHQ), for its failure to curb spread of militant activities in an effective manner, the BJP chief said that the government too is not taking firm action against the secessionist and separatist elements, who are exploiting people against security forces on the human rights issues.
Day in and day out people at the behest of the separatist elements come out in open streets alleging HR violations by security forces in Kashmir. This is a ploy to demoralize the security forces, who are protecting the lives and properties of the people in the state after having shun their comforts. Quoting the latest incident at Kellar in Shopian area of Kashmir, Manhas said that this too was exploited by separatist elements at the behest of agencies across the border.
"Why government is lenient towards separatists and why it does not take action against them under the law of the land for spreading disaffection and hatred against the security forces and the country", he pointed out. There are some vested elements in the government who are providing overt and covert support to such forces, he said adding such elements should be exposed in the interest of the security of the state and the country. He also appealed the people to remain vigilant and defeat all evil designs of anti-national and anti-social elements, who are making all efforts to demoralize the security forces in the state.
