EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 26: Intensifying its drive against erring milk vendors selling low quality milk, Municipal Veterinary Wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation today launched a drive and seized 12 containers and sent milk to laboratory to check its quality. The drive was conducted by Dr Vireshwar Sharma, Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff in the areas of Jewel, Satwari, Gangyal, Narwal and Nai Basti. During the drive, 96 milk containers were checked in these areas, out of which 12 were lifted and sent to laboratory to check the quality of the milk. A fine of Rs 2350.00 was also realized from the erring milk vendors on spot. The team also visited the areas of, Ambphalla, New Plots, Janipur, Shalamar Road, Jewel, Bikram Chowk, Panama Chowk, Valmiki Chowk, Shastri Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Shivaji Chowk, Gole Market and Gandhi Nagar and lifted 13 stray animals. The stray animals were impounded to Municipal Cattle Pound and a fine of Rs 1850.00 was realized from the owners of stray animals. Besides, continuing the drive to implement the ban on the use of polythene carry bags, the Enforcement field staff led by the S D Tak, Chief Enforcement Officer inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Kacchi Chawni, Sabzi Mandi, Raj Tilak Road and Parade. The team seized about 20 Kgs of polythene carry bags from the shopkeepers, vendors and others outlets in these areas. An amount of Rs 2500 was charged as fine from 16 defaulters on spot who were using the polythene carry bags.
