| PDP, NC,Cong sailing in same boat : Arora | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 27: We should have the courage to call spade a spade. This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora in a statement issued here today. He said the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), along with ruling parties including National Conference (NC) and Congress, are sailing in the same boat. Why these parties shy to come forward openly in the larger interest of not abolishing Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), he questioned. Arora strongly condemned the demand of withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Power Act and yesterday's protest raised by PDP. He said that statement of Mehbooba Mufti asking militants and separatists to join hands with PDP in order to get this demand fulfilled is a shameful proposal made by a party which believes in democracy. Arora asked PDP leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, what justification can be given by his party and a former Union Home Minister in joining the demand made by separatists and those who don't trust democracy. Arora further said that no party and leader should compromise the state, as well as national interests and we will not allow it to happen at any cost as many have laid down their lives to protect the interest of J&K state and that of the country. BJP spokesperson demanded that Central government should take a serious note because these attempts are meant to demoralize belt forces and encourage pro-militancy elements. In fact, legal process should be adopted against Mehbooba Mufti and its party by the government as they leave no stone unturned which support anti-India activities. Arora also appealed local Jammu based PDP leaders to disassociate from party over this demand and appealed the people to question them over such demand. The only provision which protects the working of security forces is that "no action can be taken against security forces without permission of central government" and PDP wants to end this privilege. We should not forget the words of former chief of army staff General Kapoor that it will become difficult to work if the Act is abolished. BJP takes serious note and demand that ban should be imposed on the activities of such leaders and parties.
