Book on 'Ladakh-Travel-History-Culture' released

JAMMU, Apr 27: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today highlighted the importance of books as valuable treasures of history, culture, heritage and literature.
"Books provide vast canvas of multi-pronged literary, introductory, informative, educative and learning material to a reader and enrich ones knowledge about multifaceted aspects of life, people, area and civilization", he maintained.
Addressing a function after releasing a book titled 'Ladakh-Travel-History-Culture' authored by DIG Police, S.D.S. Jamwal and TL. Thasgspa here, Omar said that the particular book is more than a traveler's guide or visitors advisory. "It covers all aspects of life in Ladakh, its fauna, flora, geography, history and culture in a peculiar and artistic fashion".
Omar appreciated the authors and stressed on developing the interest of writing diaries and books by the officers in administration, describing it a sophisticated way of telling the true stories of people and land they live on.
The Chief Minister said that his government has flagged preservation and propagation of state's rich culture and heritage as an important area.
Omar expressed the hope that the book on Ladakh would prove highly beneficial for the tourists as well as students to know all about Ladakh and its history and culture. Addressing the function, the Minister for Tourism, Nawang Rigzin Jora said that the book released today is 3rd in a row on Ladakh and the great civilization it symbolizes.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani said that books like those released today play an important role in promoting tourism and enriching the knowledge of people about particular areas and the people living there.
Director General Police, Kuldeep Khoda and former Chief Secretary, Dr. S. S. Bloeria also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the distinctive features of the book and appreciated the endeavour of the authors to reveal the hidden treasure of Ladakh as also providing useful and purposeful data on all important aspects.
