| Shivalik BEd College clinches final cricket tourney | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, Apr 27: Team of Shivalik College of Education defeated Kalra College of Education in an Inter- B. Ed. College cricket tournament finals held at Sports Stadium, Udhampur today. The tournament was organized as a part of on-going month long sports, social and cultural events of B. Ed. Colleges of Udhampur and Reasi districts respectively. Chasing 117 runs target set by the runner up team, the winning team levelled the score in 17 overs losing only two wickets in 20 over match. Sarveen Singh of Shivalik College scored 44 runs against 32 balls and was the highest scrorer while Gulshan Dogra of Shivalik College got four wickets in the final event. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Nasir Iqbal Parae was the chief guest on the occasion. Lauding the efforts of organizers for providing an opportunity to the budding sports persons, the Addl. Deputy Commissioner said that such occasions provide an opportunity to the young sports persons to exhibit their sports talent at a common platform which further helps in inculcating a sense of discipline and national integration among the players. Parae said that participation of players ranging from remotest areas of the State to the metro cities like Delhi was too encouraging as such composition of teams are vital for exchange of our composite culture and traditions. He said that sports activities in Udhampur are precipitating day by day thereby inculcating positive mindset among the young generations. Among others, Chairman's of Kalara College of Education, Shivalik College of Education and Bhartiya College of Education besides a number of students of these institutions were present to witness the match.
