| SVO produces challan against patwari | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 27: The Kashmir wing of the state vigilance organisation (SVO) today produced challan against a patwari of revenue department in a corruption case in the court of special judge anti-corruption, Srinagar. The challan was produced against Shafatul Rehman, who was in 2009 patwari of Aarth halqa in Budgam. He hails from Dabtal near Zainakadal in Srinagar. The case was registered against him on a written complaint lodged against him by Farooq Ahmad Dar of Aarth, who stated that his father Mohammad Sultan Dar had exchanged his land with Ghulam Mohiudin of Aarth about 30 years back. As the levy of the land had not been deposited in the government treasury, Dar approached the patwari to prepare a challan, the document needed for depositing levy. He alleged that the patwari demanded Rs 5,000 from him as bribe to prepare the document, according to SVO sources. When despite repeated visits, his work was not done, he approached SVO. Acting on his complaint, SVO sleuths laid a trap and arrested him red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 5,000 in the presence of independent witnesses. After concluding investigation and getting sanction from the government, SVO today produced challan against the patwari.
